Hello from A & J Villas,

I can almost smell spring! It's only the middle of February (as I'm writing this) but once March begins Julie and I better get ourselves in gear. We have to get working to make A&J Villas even better than you remember it. We haven't let you down so far and we will not break our streak of making improvements every off-season. We have taken the first steps toward our new project so check out the new renovation page.

Like all our projects we start out thinking we can keep it simple but our ambition always gets the best of us. Our intention was to put tile floors down in the kitchen, dining room and entrance to apartment 1 (the beach) but we've expanded things a bit. Now our goal is to also redo all the wallpaper in the apartment. It's been there a long time and it needs to be replaced. We also plan on replacing the carpet throughout the apartment.

Now on to other news!

A while back in our fifth message, we spoke of some ideas we gathered on our vacations and how we try to use them at A&J Villas. Well one of them, having books that you can read and take with you actually was stolen from my mother who came up with the idea at her apartments to thin out her quite large collection of books. While surfing the internet one day I came across a site called BookCrossing.com and decided to expand our small exchange by joing BookCrossing and making A&J Villas a BookCrossing Zone. Other zones include more traditional businesses such as coffee shops but hey plenty of people pass through A&J Villas every year so why not here?

Written on the inside cover of the books will be a BookCrossing ID that you can enter into your computer to begin tracking the book. You can leave a review of the book and also see where it has been although I think all of them will begin at A&J Villas (at least for a while). When you finish the book, leave it somewhere - anywhere. Leave the book at a coffee shop or on a bus. Someone will pick it up and we'll all be able to see where it goes. You can also be an active participant. If you want to join BookCrossing.com then click here to join and leave a book at A&J Villas. If someone picks it up, you'll see its journey begin in Wildwood Crest. Where it will nd up is anyone's guess. It's a great concept and I'm looking forward to contributing.

Now let's talk about security - not for A&J Villas but for our website. Some of you might have noticed that you can no longer sign our guestbook. We've also removed all of the e-mail addresses of those that have signed in because we found out that spammers have been mining the website and could send you unsolicited mail. Your privacy is very important to us and even though we like getting your kind messages, it's not worth you getting e-mail you never asked for.

As always we look forward to seeing you again (or for the first time if you're new to A&J Villas) this summer.

A.J. and Julie,
