Hello from A & J Villas,
I just took a look at the website and wondered what I’ve been doing. We haven’t updated anything in a long time and my last message was written in February, 2004. Of course February started our remodel of apartment 1 now known as “The Beach.” A project we thought would be the easiest turned out to take the most time (at least it felt that way). We were very happy with the results and hope that all our guests who stayed at The Beach were just as pleased.
The summer went fast and Julie and I felt as if we were never really able to catch up with the pace father time set for us. I hope we were able to keep up with your expectations and that you were happy with your stay at A&J Villas.
In addition to the decorative changes we made to The Beach, we also installed two air conditioners in the bedrooms. We hope this made a difference. We weren’t able to get everything done, however and have a couple of new ceiling fans sitting in boxes that will be installed this spring. These will help complete the beach feel we’re looking for and will be a nice decorative touch.
We also plan on changing the look of the front of A&J Villas by replacing the trees and shrubs in the front with a more seashore look. What exactly we’ll be doing I’m not sure yet but I imagine sea grass and shells will figure in the design. And the breezeway was a bit crowded this summer but will be much better next year. We’re going the remove the table that was “temporarily” in the breezeway to make sure that there is enough room for all your beach toys, bikes and coolers.
I think the summer was a success with good weather beating out bad. Unless you took vacation the same week we did when it rained almost every day. Just being away from work and in a place we love was enough for me and Julie however. Of course scorching sun and long days on the beach would have been nice too. And Julie doesn’t share my rosy memory of the summer. She wasn’t too happy with the weather this year.
Julie and I have completed 4 summers at A&J Villas and each year we have more and more respect for Harry and Coleen. They took such great care of the place and wanted to make sure that whoever bought it would treat it just as well. It’s a big job but for those of you who have read these little messages, you’ll know it’s one we enjoy very much. Just as we enjoy seeing you enjoy it year after year.
